Another reveal at E3 2019 was by Square Enix, announcing that their latest action-rpg game developed by the talented Tokyo RPG Factory team, Oninaki will debut digitally on the Nintendo Switch system, PlayStation 4 and PC STEAM on August 22.
Oninaki is the third title from the Tokyo Toy Story, and it’s their first rpg game, taking inspiration from Japanese role-playing game. Oninaki follows I Am Setsuna in 2016, and Lost Sphere in 2018, but takes a new, inspired art direction and adds a captivating storyline, that creates a unique yet familiar JRPG experience.
Oninaki tells the story of Kagachi a young Watcher who embodies the tenants of reincarnation, whose job is to user the lost souls of this world onto the next. When he meets a young girl called Linne, with no memory of her past, their fates soon become entwined across a tale of death and blood. Along his travels, Kagachi soon meets Kushi a famous Watcher and honored leader, and the cruel and heartless Night Devil, a swordsman from the past who’s hunting Linne.
Kagachi must harness the power of daemons, lost souls who can’t reincarnate, and use them in battle. Each daemon represents a different weapon type, and can be switched between in real-time in order deal powerful blows to your enemies, with unique skills and power-ups.
Oninaki will debut digitally on the Nintendo Switch system, PlayStation 4 and PC STEAM on August 22.
