A new multiplayer horror experience is coming to Steam in 2018. Expected to be released some time in May, Daemonical promises to be a multiplayer game of distrust and uncertainty. You play as one of 5 survivors who are trapped on an island. But, the horror is not from without. One of you is the monster. Danger lurks around every corner. Do you choose to trust those you see? Or simply kill to survive?
Trust is optional
As horror games go, this one certainly seems to have its place. Brought to you be the Croatia based developer Fearem, Daemonical is a purely multiplayer experience. Much like Friday the 13th, you must survive the night by finding weapons and not sticking in one place for to long. If it finds you, you are likely to be killed. But, how will you know who to trust? Who out of your friends, can you be sure is telling you the truth? It’s an interesting mechanic which is sure to have people questioning their every move and motive. Do you survive by staying alone or teaming up? Only you can decide that.
There is something to be said about this particular genre. Having picked up in the last few years, you can see the appeal. Play online with a bunch of friends or complete strangers to try and survive the horror situation you are trapped in. At the moment, there isn’t a whole lot about this game. Makes sense in my opinion. If you want people to experience your horror game, tease them with gameplay and a concept and then get them playing. This game is meant to mess with you and I feel like you could definitely get some great fun and scares from it.
That being said, horror can be a bit hit and miss. Sometimes, you really have no idea whether it will be good until you play it. So, I guess we will just have to wait until it is released on Steam to find out. The graphics look incredible and if the header for this article doesn’t creep you out, then this probably isn’t the game for you. Or maybe it is. See, it already has me second guessing!
Complete the Ritual
Whatever that means. It seems pretty ominous from the trailer but presumably it won’t just be trying to survive until dawn. You are likely to need to find objects and stop the demon by performing a ritual. This of course will be difficult because these games never like to make it easy for us. Will it be scary? Probably. But, I guess we will have to wait and see.
I’m going to leave this one here since I honestly have nothing else to go on. It’s a multiplayer survival horror. Take from that what you will. Now, enjoy some delightful screenshots.
