Futuristic combat racer Grip has been confirmed for a retail release in 2018 on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC by newly attached publisher Wired Productions. Grip developer Caged Element has made it very clear that fans of classic combat racer Rollcage will be happy with their approach to the futuristic combat racer genre even to the point of their team featuring a couple of original Rollcage development team members, while it’s soundtrack also includes Technical Itch and Dom & Roland from the Rollcage: Stage II soundtrack. Developed by Attention to Detail and published by Psygnosis; Rollcage was a big part of the combat racer genre’s evolution on PS1 and PC with Rollcage and Rollcage: Stage II in 1999 and 2000 respectively, while Caged Element hopes for Grip to be the definitive renaissance of futuristic combat racers.

Grip utilises Unreal Engine 4 to produce what is set to be the best physics to date in the futuristic combat racer genre, while PS4 Pro and Xbox One X will received fully enhanced versions. Fans of Rollcage’s split-screen multiplayer will be ecstatic to know that there is full support for 2 to 4 players in split-screen multiplayer, alongside online multiplayer on home consoles and PC.

It is exciting times for Caged Element as Grip is making its American debut at Game Developers Conference 2018 (GDC) in San Francisco in South Hall, Booth #1023 (in the UKIE area of the show) and gamers will be able to get hands-on with Grip for the first time at PAX East, Booth #20031 in Boston, USA and EGX Rezzed in London, UK.
