UPDATE 1/29/14: Today Bethesda released the minimum Elder Scrolls Online system requirements for PC and Mac. They are as follows:
PC System Requirements
- Operating System: Windows XP 32-bit
- Processor: Dual Core 2.0GHz or equivalent processor
- Memory: 2GB System RAM
- Hard Disk Space: 60GB free HDD space
- Video Card: DirectX 9.0 compliant video card with 512 MB of RAM (NVIDIA GeForce 880/ATI Radeon 2600 or better)
- Sound: DirectX compatible sound card
Mac System Requirements
- Operating System: Mac OSX 10.7.0 or later
- Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo
- Video Card: Intel HD Graphics 4000, NVIDIA GeForce GT330M or ATI Radeon HD 6490M or better
- Memory: 4GB RAM
- Storage: 60 GB
- Media: DVD-ROM
- Resolution: 1024 x 768 minimum display resolution
You will also need a persistent internet connection in order to play. System requirements are subject to change over time.
As you know, the Skyrim Fansite has been covering the upcoming release of the Elder Scrolls Online — the MMORPG that will allow players to explore the world of Tamriel in an exciting new way. The Elder Scrolls Online is the next title in the Elder Scrolls series, following on the heels of the wildly-popular Skyrim video game. ESO is slated to launch in the Spring of 2014 and is currently undergoing beta testing. If your desire is explore Tamriel on a desktop or laptop computer however, you should know that ESO will work on any PC and Mac purchased in the last five years. According to the official Elder Scrolls Online website support section:
We have yet to announce system requirements for The Elder Scrolls Online, but our goal is to make the game playable on any PC (Windows OS) or Mac purchased within the last five years as well as on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. We’ll discuss recommended PC/Mac specs closer to launch in Spring 2014, so be sure to check back for all the latest updates.
Obviously, this is great news for gamers concerned about the Elder Scrolls Online system requirements, for there’s no need to rush out and buy a new machine if your computer was purchased within the last five years. ZeniMax Online Studios created a brand new game engine specifically for ESO that promises to be stable and graphically awesome, allowing the game to run on a variety of computer systems.With that said, it should be noted that the better your PC or Mac’s graphics capability, the better the game will look on your machine.
