You might have heard the official news: The Outer Worlds was nominated for four awards at The Game Awards 2019!

Here are the categories for which Obsidian's admired creation was nominated:

  • Best Narrative
  • Best Performance (Ashly Burch as Parvati Holcomb)
  • Best Role-Playing Game
  • Game of the Year

Nominees for most of the available categories are chosen by an international jury, and the winners are usually determined by a blended vote between the voting jury and public fan voting.
Unfortunately, the cast votes were not enough to allow Obsidian to claim any of the awards, but the development team made a special Thank-You announcement to show appreciation for the support their loyal fanbase has demonstrated since the game's release a couple of months before the end of the year.
That's the same post that includes Obsidian's official announcement of an upcoming DLC for The Outer Worlds - what is a better way to thank your players?

Coming ahead of The Outer Worlds, Disco Elysium was the game to take the Best Narrative and the Best RPG awards, while Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice won the Game of the Year award.
Meanwhile, Mads Mikkelsen took the Best Performance award for his role as Cliff in Death Stranding.

Do you think these results reflect views of the gamer community? Do you think there is at least one award from the list that The Outer Worlds should have won for certain?
